Meet Natalie, a student on The Source School’s Programme
The Source School's programme gives young students their first taste of the working world, taking them out of school for one day a week and introducing them to a mature environment.
Natalie is studying towards her Btec First Diploma in Retail Distinction*, a qualification equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade A*. Here, Natalie tells us how she first got to hear about The Source and what she enjoys most about it.
Natalie says: "I first heard about The Source at school, and was really excited to take it up as an option in Year 9. I am now in Year 11 and really enjoy learning about retail through activities such as going on trips to Meadowhall and to other places. I learnt a lot from my work placement in H&M and have developed new skills from the Apprenticeship programme.
The Young Apprenticeship Programme has probably been the best aspect of the course, learning about retail from real experiences. It has helped me plan my career and given me opportunities to go into retail and college.
In a few years time I hope to be working as a Visual Merchandiser in a leading women's accessory shop; somewhere I can be creative and successful!"
