Meet the team - Pauline Smallwood
Pauline, tell us a little more about what your daily duties include?
I am a Cleaner at The Source. I come in every morning and check the rotas and catch up with the Caretaker to make sure I have a list of jobs for the day. At The Source, I clean the facilities, including maintaining the offices, staircases and meeting rooms throughout the building. I work closely with the Hospitality department, making sure meeting rooms are fully stocked, and I also answer any questions visitors have whilst they are in the building.
How did you first hear about The Source?
I was made redundant from my previous job and started looking for similar work straight away. I was offered other opportunities but they just didn't feel right. When I came to The Source for my interview, the building had a really nice feel and everyone was so friendly and welcoming, that I felt at home straight away.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The best part of my job is meeting different people every day. No day is the same and it's nice to see different people using the facilities all the time. Everyone is treated equally at The Source and I am respected in my work at all times. I really feel part of the team; but to be honest it's more like a big happy family!
What are your hobbies and interests outside The Source?
I spend most of my time outside work looking after my grandchildren, which I love to do. I also like going for walks on the weekends and most of all a bit of retail therapy at Meadowhall!
And the million dollar question for April...who is the most famous person you have met whilst working at The Source?
I did meet David Blunkett once at a previous job, but I have only been working at The Source for 11 months, and I have not met anyone famous here yet. There are important visitors coming through The Source all the time and it's exciting to think you never know who may walk in next!
