The Source gets Big Tick of approval
18th May 2009

The Source was this month awarded two Business in the Community (BITC) Awards for excellence.

The BITC Awards are the UK's most influential, independent, peer assessed corporate responsibility awards. Run in association with the Financial Times, the awards recognise and celebrate those companies who have shown innovation, creativity and a sustained commitment to corporate responsibility.

Ann Cadman, The Source Centre Director says: "The BITC Awards provide fantastic recognition for the work that we do at The Source. Within our teams, we dedicate ourselves to supporting people of all ages and from various backgrounds and we are proud to be able to help change their lives. The Awards ceremony will be a great opportunity for our teams to celebrate this success. "

The Source has been recognised within two categories, the Merrill Lynch Education Award and the Active Communities Award.  The Merrill Lynch Education Award is supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, recognising company community programmes that raise the achievement of young people through building sustainable partnerships with schools to the benefit of pupils aged 5-19 years in the UK.

The Active Communities Award is supported by the Department for Communities and Local Government, recognising company community programmes that are empowering local communities in the UK.

Liz Needleman, Regional Director of Business in the Community says "Entering the Awards for Excellence is a great way for companies to share the successes they have had in making responsible business an integral part of their operations. Whether they choose to make their mark within the marketplace, workplace, community or environment, the examples we see are always of the highest standard and never lacking in imagination and innovation."
