Meet Andy Ward, Gym Manager at The Source Fitness Suite.  Here, our roving reporter quiz's Andy on new and exclusive gym classes coming soon and discovers if he is as sporty outside work.

So Andy, tell us a little more about your role at The Source.
My role at The Source is to manage the Fitness Suite. This role involves managing the operational requirements, recruitment and retention strategies and report into the Centre manager on a weekly and monthly basis. I also provide a GP referral training course to help members regain and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Tell us more about the facilities in the Fitness Suite
The Fitness Suite provides a variety of facilities such as state of the art Technogym Wellness system for both cardiovascular and resistance training, an area to stretch and cool down, as well as an aerobics studio which offers an variety of fitness, dance and martial arts classes. The gym also has the new Power Plate fitness machine which has recently been installed. Alongside this, the suite also houses saunas and changing facilities for both men and women.

I hear you are launching several new classes for members and non-members, tell us more about this.
That's right. We have just launched several new classes within the fitness suite which cater for more specialised interests but that also provide a great amount of cardio work. Classes such as Boot camp, Bollywood, Karate and Street Feet have all recently been put into action and have allowed the fitness suite to provide a wider variety of exciting and motivating exercises.

You recently entered the FLAME Awards, what do they recognise?
The Fitness Leadership and Management Excellence Awards recognise excellence in both strategy and health club management. It celebrates fitness and leisure programming, practice, management of staff and equipment and customer service.

So Andy, what are your hobbies and interests?
The general manly chores such as gardening, decorating, keeping my allotment tidy but I also spend a lot of my time training for numerous events involving cycling, swimming and running. In the past I have completed many gruelling courses such as the London Triathlon, the 3 Peaks Challenge, a 50 mile run The Rowbotham's Round Rotherham and the notorious Tough Guy event in Wolverhampton.
