Focus on: Sarah Snodgrass an Apprentice with The Source
Sarah, who has an extensive retail background, wanted to develop her skills and increase her knowledge of the retail sector whilst studying for a recognised qualification. She began her Apprenticeship in January 2009 and has made excellent progress, dedicating herself to working at home and taking what she can from her qualification.
After only a short time on the Apprenticeship, Sarah was linking her ideas with areas of improvements within the store, implementing changes to expand on current policies and procedures and ensuring the day to day running's of the store went smoothly.
Sarah Says: "After leaving school I began work straight away. I thought retail seemed like a great occupation, as I love talking to people, so that is the area I pursued. I looked into the Apprenticeship with The Source and thought this would be a great way to gain more skills and prepare me for a more senior role.
From taking part in the Apprenticeship, I am more commercially aware which has enabled me to grow my retail knowledge. I now look at figures and assess how, as a store, we can enhance sales by utilising visual merchandising.
After my first week on my Apprenticeship I was already excited for my next visit. I am enjoying my Apprenticeship so much that I take work home with me - I never thought I would want to do homework, but I really enjoy it! Although I am only part way into my Apprenticeship, I have grown so much in both knowledge and confidence that I can't wait to see how I will develop further as my Apprenticeship progresses."
Sarah recently accepted the position of Assistant Manager in the new Radley store - coming soon to the Meadowhall centre.
