The Source is Backing the Bid! Sheffield is bidding alongside 15 other UK destinations to become a host city should England be successful in their bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and The Source is pleased to support the bid.

Sheffield is hoping to be selected for a range of honours, including hosting matches, providing the training base for a footballing nation, or hosting a team to stay in the city for the duration of the tournament. 

Sheffield's 2018 bid is a unified city bid supported by both Sheffield football clubs, Sheffield City Council, Creativesheffield and a number of other city stakeholders. The individuals behind the bid team are all hoping to achieve glory for Sheffield and bring World Cup Games to the city.

Hosting such a prestigious world tournament in Sheffield would bring immense benefits to the city; increasing the city's profile internationally, accelerating investment and creating a ‘once in a lifetime' experience for the citizens of Sheffield.  Not to mention the considerable direct economic impact through visitor spending whilst the event is taking place.
