Ever thought about employing an Apprentice? Well it's easier than you think and you can find out more at National Apprenticeship Week this February. The Source is celebrating Apprenticeships by hosting a two week information service in Sheffield City Centre where you can meet people who will answer your questions and tell you more about how an Apprentice could benefit your business.
Advisers from The Source and National Apprenticeship Service will be on hand over the two-week period to offer expert advice. One of The Source's key priorities is supporting local businesses and their training needs, particularly with Apprenticeships, making them best placed to give advice to any local employers thinking of hiring an apprentice.
Nick Wilson, Regional Director at the National Apprenticeship Service, said: "The Retail Skills Shop is a great opportunity for young people and employers to call in for an informal chat and find out the opportunities that Apprenticeships can offer.
"Last year, over 70,000 16-17 year olds started an Apprenticeship but there are still more young people who want to learn whilst in employment and open doors to a dream career by becoming an apprentice. A recent survey also revealed that 74 per cent of consumers in the region prefer to use a business which employs apprentices, demonstrating the real business benefits that Apprenticeships can deliver to local Sheffield companies."
Rosie Winterton, the Minister for Yorkshire and The Humber, said: "I am delighted to support National Apprenticeship Week and urge employers in both the public and private sectors across the region to join me in Backing Young Britain by offering young people the opportunity to become apprentices.
"With Apprenticeships now spanning over 190 career choices and in 80 industry sectors, there are tremendous opportunities for young people to get the training and experience on which they can build successful careers.
"It is also increasingly clear that skilled apprentices can help business, local authorities and other public sector organisations to become more competitive by boosting overall productivity and profitability."
Mike Denby, Business Communication Manager at The Source, said: "Making the right advice and guidance easily accessible is key to increasing awareness of Apprenticeships and showing the level of support local people and business can receive.
"The exhibition will provide access to the National Apprenticeship Service and The Source advisers so everyone, employers in particular, can come along and gain free, impartial advice about how they can transform their business by investing in an apprentice."
