Food For Thought - Pre- Apprenticeship Retail Training Programme

On a monthly basis, we offer ‘food for thought' and share a few words of wisdom surrounding training and development. This month, we are sharing information about new training courses designed for 16-18 year olds who are not in full time education or employment.

The Pre-Apprenticeship Retail Training course gives you the skills and support you need to help you into training, further education or work in the retail sector.

What will you get from the course?

  • A Retail and Work Skills Qualification
  • Maths, English and IT skills
  • Improved confidence and skills to offer you better prospects
  • Retail work placements
  • The opportunity to meet new people

This course will help you:

  • Get a job
  • Do an Apprenticeship
  • Go to college to study




You are eligible to join if:

  • You are aged 16 -18
  • Not at school or college
  • Not in employment or training
  • You need the retail skills to get into training, further education or employment

How long is the Retail Training Programme?
10 weeks

How many hours is it?
Flexible, but between 16 to 30 hours per week

Do you get paid?
You earn £30 a week EMA (Educational Maintenance Allowance)
