The Source at Meadowhall wins ICSC International Award for community support
29th June 2010

The Source at Meadowhall and The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Foundation is proud to announce The Source's success at the ICSC Best-of-the-Best Awards ceremony.

The Source at Meadowhall and British Land won the 2010 Albert Sussman International Community Support Award, the highest honour in the community support award program, which was developed to recognise outstanding humanitarian service in its community. The award ceremony took place during the "Night of the Stars" gala, at RECon 2010 on Sunday, May 23 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Best-of-the-Best Awards honour and recognise the most outstanding examples of design and development, sustainability, marketing, and community service worldwide.

Michael P. Kercheval, president and chief executive officer for ICSC said: "These four centres have set themselves apart from the rest of the retail real estate industry by creating a unique and exceptional design, campaign or program. The ‘Best-of-the- Best Awards' set the bar for what the retail real estate industry has come to expect from its owners and developers and there is no better place to recognise these outstanding centres than at RECon - where the leaders of the retail real estate industry come together to conduct business."

Ann Cadman, Director of The Source, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for all at The Source. Our dedicated team works tremendously hard to ensure that our local community receives every support, from up skilling young school students and the local workforce, to supporting unemployed people into work. This achievement is testament to the hard work of our team and we are very proud to display the ICSC Albert Sussman International Community Support Award in our building."

The Source at Meadowhall, which also won the 2009 ICSC European Community Support Award, worked in partnership with Sheffield City Council and British Land to set up The Source to encourage economic regeneration. The Source's socially inclusive ethos has led to over 350,000 visits by people using the facilities and attending training. The team has supported local people and businesses, helping them to maintain morale and performance in a challenging economic climate.
