The Source gets Big Tick of approval at BITC Awards
28th June 2010

The Source has won two prestigious National Big Tick awards for their positive impact and action in the community. The Source has been recognised within two categories, the Merrill Lynch Education Award and the Active Communities Award.  The Merrill Lynch Education Award is supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, recognising company community programmes that raise the achievement of young people through building sustainable partnerships with schools to the benefit of pupils aged 5-19 years in the UK.

The Active Communities Award is supported by the Department for Communities and Local Government, recognising company community programmes that are empowering local communities in the UK.

The BITC Awards are the UK's most influential, independent, peer assessed corporate responsibility awards. Run in association with the Financial Times, the awards recognise and celebrate those companies who have shown innovation, creativity and a sustained commitment to corporate responsibility.

Ann Cadman, The Source Director says: "The BITC Awards provide fantastic recognition for the work that we do at The Source. Within our teams, we dedicate ourselves to supporting people of all ages and from various backgrounds and we are proud to be able to help change their lives. The re-accreditation at the 2010 awards is a great opportunity for our teams to celebrate this success. These are prestigious awards and we are honoured to be recognised by Business in the Community."

Regional Director for Business in the Community in Yorkshire and Humber, Liz Needleman said:  "I congratulate all the businesses achieving a Big Tick and winners of the regional awards.  They are leading the movement for responsible business in our community and should be rightly proud of the positive impact that their programmes are having.   It's well known that embedding responsible business into day-to-day operations is one of the biggest opportunities we have to make a positive difference to our employees, our local communities, the environment, and the bottom line.  We should all be proud of these companies leading the movement of responsible business forward."
