The Source Masters Team Spirit!
The Source Masters Team Spirit!
14th October 2010

The Source picked up the prize for Outstanding Team Achievement Award and was highly commended in the Individual Achievement category at the 2010 Mastercutler Challenge Awards in aid of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

The winners in each category were announced at the Gala Dinner on Friday 1st of October at Cutlers Hall Sheffield, celebrating 6 months of fundraising.

Ann Cadman, The Source Managing Director, said: "The Master Cutler Challenge has been a great team event for The Source, bringing all departments even closer together. Everyone had shared ideas and worked together to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. Every department has been involved and shown great team spirit  through exciting fundraising ideas and attendance at events, both in and outside work. We are very proud and grateful for this award and it really means a lot to all of us."

To do their bit for the cause, The Source team took time baking cakes, finding books to sell, and donating items for the Rags ‘R' Us collection. Successful events included Race Nights, Rags R Us collections, books and cake sales, raffles, fancy dress bungee jumps, fitness class-a-thon, world cup prize draw and a Wimbledon picnic pack draw.

The Master Cutler's Challenge 2010 raised an amazing £120,000 for the Master Cutler's chosen charities, with the majority going to Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice and the balance to a number of other local charities.

Sarah Champion, Chief Executive of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, commented "The gala dinner was a fantastic way to round off six months of fundraising by the incredibly innovative companies that took part.  We were astounded by the ideas that came out of the challenge, and by the energy of the participating companies. On behalf of everyone at Bluebell Wood, I'd like to thank the Master Cutler for choosing to include our charity in this year's Master Cutler Challenge, and also everyone who participated this year.  It costs £2.5 million every year for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice to keep supporting families with a child not expected to reach adulthood in this region, and the hospice receives no statutory government funding.  It is thanks to the dedication of companies like those who participated in this year's challenge; and the general public who supported the events, that we are able to continue helping these families enjoy a lifetime of love and laughter."

The Master Cutler, James Newman, added "I am delighted that so many companies responded to the Challenge in such a positive and innovative way. The amount raised will not only help Bluebell Wood with the vital work they do with some of our most vulnerable children but also other local charities in the South Yorkshire area, all of whom need our support in these times of Government cut backs and a general reduction in charitable giving. Thank you to all who participated"
