Join now and get the first month for only £20 plus no joining fee and pay only £25 per month thereafter at The Source Fitness Suite Sheffield
The Source Sheffield is encouraging local people to make a positive start to 2011 by supporting them to swap their daily routine for something more active as part of the Great Swapathon, a new campaign from Change4Life, the nationwide movement to help everyone eat well, move more, drink less and live longer.
With the aim of achieving one million healthy swaps this January, the Great Swapathon is all about making simple, manageable swaps towards a healthier lifestyle for all the family.
This could be as simple as swapping an evening watching television for a swim at the local pool, swapping white bread for wholemeal bread, swapping four wheels for two feet or swapping sugary fizzy drinks for water, milk or pure fruit juice.
To help kickstart your swaps, The Source is offering gym membership at £20 for the first month plus no joining fee when you join now.
Andy Ward, Fitness Suite Manager, said "We're delighted to be able to offer the people of Sheffield something to help increase their activity levels. Often New Year resolutions are short lived but the Great Swapathon is all about achievable, simple steps to long term better health."
David Stalker, Executive Director, Fitness Industry Association said: "The pressures of modern day life mean we're often a lot less active than we could be and not reaching the recommended levels . It is essential that we make physical activity more accessible in order to support more people to be more active".
If we carry on as we are 90% of today's kids could be overweight or obese by 2050. Being overweight isn't just about the way we look. It can lead to more aches and pains, problems sleeping and people report a loss of energy and confidence. It also increases our chances of getting heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.
The Source is a member of the Fitness Industry Association, who is delivering the campaign in partnership with the News of the World newspaper, ASDA and other partners.
