Eric first came to The Source on the Programme led Apprenticeship programme to learn more about customer service and retail and prepare him for the world of work.
Eric came to The Source with a relaxed view on work wear. After participating in pre-employment training, Eric made the decision to wear a suit and tie to work and feels this contributes to his self confidence in the workplace, Eric says: "I really feel that choosing to wear a suit for my work dress code has an impact on how I work and how people view me. I feel smart and presentable and this shows in how I do my job and definitely in my confidence. I would never thought to have worn a suit before my training."
Eric's Assessor, Clare Smith, has not only seen his confidence grow, but his breadth of knowledge too: "Eric is a great example of someone who has embraced his qualification and made the choice to develop his education with vocational learning. Eric now has practical work experience in addition to his qualification which will stand him in good stead for his future."
Eric moved to the UK with his mother and sister five years ago from Africa with the hope of finding a better life. Eric has now moved into his own flat and is taking on the responsibility of caring for himself. The Source is supporting Eric to grow his knowledge and skills with a qualification whilst also gaining practical experience in the workplace.
Eric says: "The Apprenticeship has been a great opportunity for me to approach a new challenge and take on more responsibilities. I was bullied at school but working with the different people at The Source has brought me out of my shell and now I look forward to coming to work. One day I hope to be an entrepreneur and own my own business and the knowledge I have learnt in my qualification will help me do that."
