Source Apprentice awarded Retail Apprentice of the Year
4th March 2011

Retail Apprentice with The Source at Meadowhall, Kieron Ellis has been awarded Apprentice of the Year at the Xcel Student of the Year Awards 2010.

Xcel Magazine hosted its third awards ceremony, sponsored by Barclay's Capital, with a gala dinner in central London on Wednesday 2nd February 2011.

The host of the awards, Xcel Magazine, is a courses and careers advice magazine for students from all backgrounds, including those who are disadvantages or under represented members of society. The event is dedicated to celebrating the fantastic achievements of all our winners.

Kieron Ellis from Sheffield and a Retail Apprentice at The Source, works in senior sales in Dorothy Perkins in Lincoln and has brought great initiatives to his store. His manager Nicola said: "Kieron has been a highly motivated individual, progressing from top level sales advisor to a senior management position, over a relatively short timescale. Kieron has not only worked hard to increase his own product knowledge, customer service and general standards, but he has also worked tirelessly to ensure that his colleagues work to the same standard. This has resulted in increased sales, efficiency and profitability. Furthermore, every member of his team is now more commercially aware."

Kieron's Work Based Learning Tutor at The Source, Franca Kelly, said: "Kieron really is an extra special individual. He is hard working, dependable and motivated and I have seen him grow and develop through his Apprenticeship. Kieron truly deserves the accolade of ‘Xcel Student of the Year' and I am incredibly proud of his achievements."

Kieron collected his award from TV presenter Konnie Huq and Leroy Joseph from Carillion and explained how he felt on winning the award: "I am really proud to have been awarded Xcel Apprentice of the Year. I have shown commitment to my qualification with The Source over the last few years and it has helped me develop my career from shop floor sales, to senior sales. This really is a highlight in my career."

Approximately 160 guests attended the awards, including our sponsors Barclay's Capital, Royal Air Force, London College of Beauty Therapy, The National Student, SR Media and Carrillion.
