The Source Skills Academy is proud to be supporting the Sheffield Star Superkids Awards.
Star Superkids is a special awards ceremony to recognise and reward inspirational children from our region. It takes place once a year with local TV / Sports personalities attending. The event is in its 15th year. Each ceremony has a theme to it to make the event memorable for the children and families attending and this year it will be 'Days Out' so there will be candy floss machine, popcorn machine, balloons, etc.
The Source Skills Academy is sponsoring the ‘Educational Progress Award' for 2011.
Mike Denby, Business Communication Manager at The Source said: "Superkids is a fantastic event that recognises and rewards inspirational children from our region and is close to The Source's heart. We work with children and young people from the age of 14 to give them the skills and confidence to enter the world of work. Some of our students are from disadvantaged backgrounds, some have witnessed serious illness in their family, and some are young people just looking for an opportunity."
The Source's Retail Training programme for 14-16 year olds combines lectures at The Source with shopping centre work placements. The courses are designed to reflect workplace standards and covers topics such as display, merchandise, customer care, transport, distribution and storage, and fashion retailing. The Source now also delivers the Higher and Advanced Diploma in Retail Business, a two year full time course which mixes teaching and practical work experience where students will gain either a Level 2 Higher or Level 3 Advanced Diploma.
The Source Skills Academy recognises the amazing talents young people possess and think it is fantastic that the annual Superkids event has been initiated to support these young people in achieving their ambitions and dreams.
