The Source Skills Academy Meadowhall is expanding and has launching a brand new building in the heart of Sheffield City Centre.
The Source Skills Academy Sheffield is a new venture designed to offer advice, guidance and training services to Sheffield businesses. The vision for the new Hub is to support traders in Sheffield City Centre by increasing the skills levels of their workforce. Local businesses can
access a range of opportunities, from Work Based Qualifications such as Apprenticeships,
to Retail Masterclasses and customer service courses. The Source also delivers pre-employment training to support individuals seeking employment.
Councillor Helen Mirfin-Boukouris, Cabinet Member for Business, Jobs and Growth at Sheffield City Council, unveiled The Source Skills Academy Sheffield on Friday 23rd September as part of the town's regeneration strategy. The project is in partnership with Sheffield City Council, the Skills Funding Agency and The Source Skills Academy.
Councillor Helen Mirfin-Boukouris said: "This new Hub is an exciting development for Sheffield
City Centre. Not only will businesses be able to access a wide range of training services and individuals looking for work will receive much needed support, but the new site is based right in the heart of Sheffield.
"The new Hub has something for everyone and will no doubt attract a lot of interest over the coming months."
The new hub has the benefit of conferencing facilities, a Café, Recruitment guidance and training and development opportunities.
John Browning, Membership and Operations Manager for National Skills Academy for Retail said: "The launch of the new Skills Academy in Sheffield demonstrates the urgent need for retail skills in the city centre. The Source is an inspiration for other skills shops across the UK and makes a fabulous contribution to the local economy. The Source Skills Academy's support not only benefits local retailers, but enthusiastic, skilled young people through the Apprenticeship programme. Retail is not just about stacking shelves, there are fantastic careers to be had in this sector and The Source is training the retail leaders of the future."
Ann Cadman, Managing Director at The Source Skills Academy, said: "The Source was established in 2003 to support businesses across South Yorkshire with training and recruitment guidance and we have come a long way since our initial launch. We recently opened a brand new site on Rotherham High Street and are very proud to open an arm of The Source Skills Academy in Sheffield City Centre."
