As the final of BBC one's The Apprentice draws to a close, The Source is celebrating the achievement of its very own real life apprentice.
Portuguese born Nuno Da Silva came to England in 1999 - when he was 10 - and only knew how to say "I don't speak English".
Whilst at Newfield Secondary school Nuno was introduced to the School's Programme which enabled him to undertake a BTEC First in Retail at The Source. As part of the course Nuno attended a work experience placement at Topman, Meadowhall gaining valuable work experience in the retail sector.
In 2005 Nuno completed his BTEC First in Retail and secured employment working within the Conferencing and Marketing department at The Source. He then began to work through his Foundation Apprenticeship in Business Administration and successfully completed this within 12 months.
Mike Denby, business communication manager at The Source, said:
"Seeing Nuno's development over the past couple of years is amazing. He has grown up into a very mature young man who is brimming with confidence. As an employer I'm so proud of his achievements and professionalism. I often joke with him that one day it'll be me who will be working for him!"
Nuno has also gained recognition for his hard work by winning Meadowhall's Exceptional Customer Service Award in March 2007, making him the youngest award winner in this category. Nuno is currently working towards his Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration and aims to complete it by the end of 2007.
