Sheffield's The Source won the Yorkshire and Humber Training Award at the National Training Awards 2007 annual ceremony. Commended as an innovative and unique training and development centre, The Source beat off stiff competition from, among others, HBOS Plc, Leeds City Council and CPP Group Plc, to win the coveted title.
Held at Leeds Town Hall on Tuesday 25 September, this national, annual ceremony recognises and rewards organisations and individuals who can demonstrate that they have achieved lasting excellence and success through training.
Highly delighted with their success at the awards, Ann Cadman, The Source director, said:
"The National Training Awards are highly respected in the industry. To win the Yorkshire and Humber title is extremely rewarding for everyone who works at The Source.
"Our aim is to meet the needs of learners and the community through a diverse and holistic programme of training. Receiving this commendation from the National Training Awards, which involves independent assessment, illustrates that our hard work and effort has paid off and that we genuinely offer the Sheffield community a national standard training centre."
The National Training Awards are run by the Government's Learning and Skills Council, which among other things aims to help organisations improve their productivity and competitiveness by ensuring that their staff have the right skills to do the best job.
"Since we opened in March 2003, The Source has helped to bridge the skills gap among shop workers in Sheffield. Over the last four and a half years, we have trained 1,600 local people," said Diane Wainwright, The Source manager.
